**We invite you and your team to join other purpose-driven Portland companies in turning good intentions into action!** On Friday, December 15, we'll be working together with Portland Backpack to assemble 500 weekend food sacks and crafting cards of encouragement to tuck into each of them – letting kids know that their whole community is behind them. In Oregon, 1 in 8 children experience food insecurity. [Portland Backpack](https://www.portlandbackpack.com/) partners with Portland & Parkrose Public Schools to serve children at risk of hunger by providing food sacks for the weekend, when food scarcity is higher. Join us with Portland Backpack to pack weekend meals for kids all across the city. Thank you to Steeplejack Brewing for hosting! Stick around for their happy hour (3-5PM) to celebrate your hard work with your teammates and fellow volunteers. *All supplies for this volunteer activity are provided.*
**Location and parking:** Steeplejack Brewing is located on NE 24th and Broadway ([map](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Steeplejack+Brewing+Company/@45.5657666,-122.7777309,12z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x5495a188e75d2855:0xb3f41405037cce3f!8m2!3d45.5349056!4d-122.6407663!16s%2Fg%2F11nrwsck7c?entry=ttu)), in a beautifully restored early 1900s church. Free street parking is available. **What to wear:** Wear comfortable shoes if you plan to participate in the food sack assembly. (If you are unable to participate in the assembly line, you can craft cards for the entirety of the event.) **Food and drink:** After the event ends at 3PM, we invite you to stay for Steeplejack’s happy hour (3-5PM) to celebrate your impact with your team or network with your fellow volunteers!
