The Portland Veterans Stand Down is an annual event to provide resources, wellness services, and a hiring fair to Veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Volunteers are needed the day before to help us set up for this major undertaking!
With over 350 Veteran attendees, over 100 service providers and employers, and tons of donated supplies to organize for distribution, a lot of set-up goes into getting ready for this event! Volunteers will help hang signage and label vendor tables throughout the event space, and move supplies to various event areas. Additionally, volunteers will help us to organize and prep the military surplus and supply areas of the event. We receive pallets' worth of military bags and packs, sleeping bags and pads, coats and shirts, and much more. Volunteers will help get all this organized so that we can easily pack requested supplies during the event, so that all Vets in attendance receive these much-needed supplies!
Volunteers should be prepared to stand/walk for the majority of this activity; some lifting required. Clothing should be comfortable, and shoes closed-toe.
