The 18th Annual 82nd Avenue of Roses Parade highlights the best of East Portland with representation of Asian, Black and Indigenous communities, the 82nd Avenue of Roses Parade features a multicultural diverse community.
Volunteer "Minders" help set up small street barricades and traffic cones along the parade route from Holgate to Washington streets. Minders flag crosswalks and keep the parade route safe by monitoring cross street traffic.
Volunteer should wear jackets, comfortable clothing and shoes. Rainy weather is always possible in April so prepare for inclement weather with raincoats or hats and umbrellas, as needed. Bring a water bottle.
Enjoy the parade while keeping an eye on cross streets, keeping motor vehicles off 82nd Avenue by staying next to barricades. Check to see if there are driveways nearby and monitor for cars. Teams of two or more volunteers cover each other for breaks. Bright colored event T-shirts signify volunteer status.
The mission of 82 Roses Community Enrichment Coalition (82 Roses) is to promote positive community development through the promotion and management of the Roses in the Heart of Portland Parade. Our purpose is to intentionally builds spirit and public involvement in support of the community around 82nd Avenue. We show our appreciation of community art, music and dance through the diverse community members who participate as entries and volunteers in the Parade.
Roses in the Heart of Portland Parade volunteers help set up the parade site, help entries find their spot in line, assist with awards, direct traffic and mark the parade route for safety. Traffic monitor volunteers get a front row seat at every street crossing along 82nd Ave from Eastport Plaza to Montavilla.
