Family Promise Metro East helps children and their families experiencing houselessness achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response. Our Vision: A community where all families have equitable access to housing and the chance to build a better future.
FPME uses a community-based rotational shelter model, with an emphasis on rapid-rehousing, for families with minor children experiencing houselessness. We support 3-5 families (up to 14 people) at a time, providing 24/7 shelter and case management focused on permanent housing. Each week, volunteers from a host group and support groups partner together to provide meals, activities, overnight hosting, transportation and more for families in our shelter program. Support groups can be businesses, churches, or organizations that have 5-15 volunteers and typically serve one week a quarter. There are also opportunities for individuals to volunteer on their own. Volunteers are required to have a background check and attend a training (virtual or in-person) prior to volunteering. Interested in volunteering? Send us a Field Trip request to start a conversation with us about getting involved (or contact 503-349-7627).
