Sponsor dinner for 30-60 moms, dads, and kids who are staying at the Family Village shelter. We rely on the generosity of our community to keep families well-fed and nourished!
Sponsor dinner for 30-60 moms, dads, and kids who are staying at the Family Village shelter. Prepare a home cooked meal, pick out your favorites at Costco, or have dinner catered. We request 30 hearty servings. Or, for our ambitious volunteers, you can double that and do 60 servings. Families also love whole milk and juice! **Because meal providers purchase all ingredients, this volunteer position is also a financial contribution, saving PHFS over $38,000 per year.** We rely on the generosity of our community to keep families well-fed and nourished! Deliver between 4-6pm on your scheduled evening. The meal is received by staff at the front desk and is transported to the kitchen for service.
Practice good hand hygiene and food safety guidelines. Food Handler Cards are not required, but always encouraged! Path Home is happy to reimburse you.
Path Home's mission is to empower homeless families with children to get back into housing – and stay there. Path Home operates four main programs: - __Economic Empowerment:__ Worldwide research shows the fastest way to end poverty for people is by giving people cash and letting them manage their household expenses. Path Home is engaging in a cash transfer pilot project where families receive $575 cash once a month for two years. - __Homeless Prevention:__ Families who are about to lose their housing get to keep their housing and never have to experience homelessness in the first place. - __Rapid Re-Housing:__ Families experiencing homelessness move back into housing as quickly as possible and receive case management and financial support to keep their housing. 88% of families keep housing long term. - __Family Village:__ An emergency shelter for up to 17 families with children at a time (60-80 people); Family Village is the first shelter of its kind in Oregon designed using trauma informed design and architecture, which aims to build dignity, restore power, and promote autonomy.
On a daily basis, Path Home volunteers contribute to that sense of community for families. The purpose of the Volunteer Program is to help Path Home accomplish and enhance our mission. We offer meaningful opportunities for community members to join us in our work. We are currently accepting new volunteers for the following positions: Turnover Team, Grounds Crew, Meal Provider, Sack Lunches, Kitchen Helper, and Kids Club.
