Special Olympics Oregon volunteers are fundamental to every single program and event across the state. Volunteer opportunities range from seasonal coaching and local program management to day-of event volunteers, administrative support, and fundraising efforts. Day-of event volunteering at our Sport Competitions and Fundraising events works perfectly for groups because you get to work together in a new environment and contribute to making positive moments happen for our athletes. Volunteer roles at Sport Competitions fall in the range of escorting, ushering, time & score-keeping, awards/results, and event set-up/break-down and roles can be chosen in a way where small groups get to work on the same action together. With our Fundraising events, groups get to help in 2 ways: by being a day-of event volunteer OR by participating and helping us raise funds! With Fundraising events groups can sign up as a team to raise money for participating in a fun activity like Plane Pull, Polar Plunge or the 50/50 Timbers Raffles. Plus, you can even create your own fundraiser! Do you have a fun activity or idea to raise money for Special Olympics Oregon? It's easy to create your own custom fundraising page, connect to social media, and share with friends. Some successful examples include car washes, bake sales and walk-a-thons. You can even turn your birthday into a fundraising event for SOOR athletes.
